My model is slightly different (a TM200, according to the instruction manual), but it looks exactly like the 3305 and has the same basic functions. I am happy to report it does not leak. This is a very nice iron which I purchased within the past few months from an Amazon.com seller. The soleplate is non-stick like many irons. The only thing I don't like is the somewhat rough texture of the soleplate which was very smooth on my previous iron. I like the stainless steel body of this Sunbeam Classic iron and its performance is very good. A small plastic 'pitcher' comes with the iron to make it easy to put water into the iron for steam. I use only filtered water (reverse osmosis) in the iron since hard water deposits can damage an iron. Distilled water is also perfect for use in a steam iron. This iron was much more reasonable in cost than my previous mostly plastic iron (different brand name) which I dropped several times and finally had to throw away. A heavier iron such as this Sunbeam does not tend to fall off the ironing board if handled correctly.

Oh my gosh! I just purchased this iron a couple of days ago, so I can't attest to long-term warranty issues. My dog tripped on the extension cord and broke my Rowenta DZ1900, which was nicer than my previous iron. That's all it was ... nicer. Still I decided to try a Rowenta again. This iron is amazing. I've been ironing flax and cotton today. I'm finished in one or two swipes of the iron. All the deep-set-in wrinkles just fall out. I love this iron! This iron is the best iron I have ever had. The first thing I noticed was the extra long cord, so no more fighting the cord to get the iron to reach the entire length of the ironing board. When you turn the iron on, the ready light turns on within a minute or two so no more waiting around for it to heat up. It has a feature to choose the fabric type you will be ironing and you can choose whether you want steam or no steam. If you choose the steam feature, it will continue delivering the perfect amount as you iron and instantly stop steaming as you lift it off the board. There is also a button for additional blasts of steam if you have a really stubborn wrinkle. In addition to all the above features, there is also the continuous steam feature that works for up to 10 minutes both vertically and horizontally if you prefer steaming a garment instead of ironing it. Before I bought this iron, I had to spray water on my clothes prior to ironing. Now I got rid of the spray bottle, iron my clothes in less than half the time, and they look like I just picked them up from the dry cleaners. I love this iron and now instead of dreading this task, I actually enjoy ironing clothes.

I had a comparable Shark that did a good job But....... It had a 3 point stand and was too unstable on my wobbly Ironing Board and kept falling off. This Sunbeam (Not the model with the retractable cord) has flat, wide base and is very stable. 3rd setting of 4 gives the perfect amount of steam where as the Shark was either too little or too much. The Blast of Steam works great in the verticle position to remove wrinkles on things you would not Iron. So far it has not dripped once. I'll sell the Shark at a Garage Sale.

I've been ironing for over 45 years and the past 20 years I've used Rowenta irons. They are great irons but they don't seem to last long. I take great care and empty them after every use but they still stop working after about 18 months-typically, they start spitting badly and fail to even heat up. At least, that is my experience with Rowenta. I bet I have purchased 10-15 Rowenta irons in the past 20 years. Even so, I still like the Rowenta because of the watts and excellent steam system. I purchased Sharp irons but they too don't last. I keep two irons-one for back-up in case the first fails. I've just had this iron for less than a week however, from this short time, I do love it. The reservoir holds a lot of water so you don't have to keep refilling it. This iron, DW9080, is powerful, 1800 watts which is very important. The more powerful the iron, the easier the ironing. This iron is easy to fill and heats up quickly. Since it has over 400 steam vents, it really puts out a lot of steam plus you have a couple of options to add more steam with the "autosteam vent", the "spray button" and burst of the "steam button". If you iron a lot and really care that your clothes look nice then I would recommend this iron, however, keep in mind that it may not last. But, on the other hand, maybe the problems that have plagued Rowenta have been addressed and it's more durable.

I waited for a few months after purchasing this iron to see how my opinion changed over time. I initially was concerned that the spiffy "lift" -- which I first saw in use on a quilting TV show -- was a gimmick that would wear off. I'm glad to say that it isn't; it's a truly useful feature that has eased my life.

Anyone who quilts spends a lot of time ironing, just as anyone who does woodworking has to be ready to do a lot of sanding. You really can't scrimp on this without regretting it later. But ironing 104 block pieces can get tedious. You iron a piece or two, move it to the Done pile, and set the iron down while you grab the next batch. You do this for at least 20 minutes. It gets old. Fast. As a result, I _really_ like that I can set the iron down and it'll "lift up" to prevent problems... saving me from that repeated lift/twist/balance exercise.

Of course, a single nifty feature does not justify the top-end price of any iron. It's just the most visible example of the quality of this iron. I've found that it has enough weight to do a serious job of ironing, but it isn't so heavy that I'm exhausted. Loading water into it is easier than it was with the old Rowenta which it replaced. (No real criticism of the Rowenta; I wore out that poor thing.) If you do quilting or other serious sewing, DO invest in a good iron. You'll feel the difference even if you can't articulate it.

As other reviewers have noted, it _can_ be a little drooly with the steam setting on. I've found that it helps to set the iron back on its heel, every so often; don't rely on the auto-lift all the time. The only other irritation is that because of the button in the middle of the iron, it no longer fits in my wall-mounted iron storage compartment (above the folded-up ironing board) and has to be kept on a shelf.

But I'm okay with that. Because I've found that ironing is much less of a hassle than it was previously. And isn't that the best you can hope for with ironing?

I bought this iron for my wife since her old one died. I thought it would be neat to have a cordless iron. My wife has been using it for almost two months now and she loves it. It works great. My advise is as follows: please note that this iron is not a one charge, one load iron. It is a constant charge iron (you need to keep it charged all the time while ironing), still it provides you with great "freedom" - the way my wife described it - freedom from the cord. You place the charger on the ironing board and as you iron you rest the iron on the charger base everytime you turn your garment around for the next area to be ironed. By doing so, the iron remains charged and it works until you are done ironning.

My wife loves it. So far we have ordered three additional irons as gifts for her friends. It works.

Pros:
1)Reliable - my last iron Panasonic NI-552R lasted 4yrs and I use it on a weekly basis; I have bought other brands Sunbeam and Black & Decker that have lasted only a year.
2)Retractable Cord - cord length adjustable so when ironing cord gets in the way less
3)Temperature Dial - has notches to prevent dial from inadvertently being changed while ironing (corrects problem with the old Panasonic model)
4)Easily Removes Wrinkles - glides easily over clothing on high steam removing wrinkles fast:) (I thought my old model was good, but this model is so much better!!! It takes me half the time to iron shirts, pillow cases, ... over my old model. The steam just seems to penetrate better: I iron one side of a shirt sleeve and now I don't have to iron or I just need to touch up the other side of the sleeve: also I have not had to use the spray feature the high steam is enough to get out the wrinkles; and I find I do not need to apply pressure to the iron like I did with the older model)
5)Anti Calcium System - we have hard water in our home the old model I used had this system and I never had a problem with clogged soleplate vents (with another brand I did have a problem, but I don't remember which brand)
6)Titanium Coating - my old model had this feature and I never had a problem with anything adhering to the sole plate and I use starch which did build up on a different brand - again I do not remember which one - sorry)

Cons:
Just one - my old model had a light blue water window so the water level indicator could be easily seen. This model has a dark blue water window making it difficult to see the water level indicator especially for this baby boomer with cataracts.

UPDATE: So, we've had this iron for a couple of months now, and BAM she's broken! :( While it was working, it did great! Lots of steam, heated quickly, nice features, very comfortable to hold. But, because I couldn't find anyone else who had reviewed it, I was a bit concerned. Well, I bought one and also (thankfully!) got the extended service guarantee from Brookstone.

Well, I came home last week and my hubby says the iron is dead! Won't heat up, keeps doing all these weird beeps, and the steam thing is pumping anymore. So, sadly, we're taking it back and will hopefully get a new one that works.

The Amazon thing won't let me drop my rating from 5 stars, so please don't be confused. I'm feeling 2 stars right now... :(

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was waffling between the Reliable Digital Velocity, a B&D recommended by ConsumerReports, and a fancy looking Rowenta. I was almost swayed to the B&D, but if you read some of the reviews, several people had problems after a few months, so I decided to go with a more-expensive brand... In the end, I tried the Digital Velocity, and I love it! We've only had it for about 2 weeks, so I can't say if it will last for years on end, but it feels very well built, sturdy, and well designed. And, so far, I'm not regretting a bit of the cost.

The thing I like the most is the steam generator! It's really cool that the amount of steam can change independently of the temperature. So, you can set low heat with lots of steam, or high heat with low steam. When you turn it on, a little machine inside pumps out the steam. It makes a little pumping noise which was interesting at first (I was just used to the hiss of steam from my old junky iron.)

It does a great job with ironing, and is very comfortable to hold. It's weighty, but not overly heavy, and it glides nicely along the garment without bunching them up. And, the iron plate is not a teflon surface (I think it's stainless?) so you don't have to worry about it flaking off after a few months of use. As for how it works, it does nicely! I ironed a decent pair of wool slacks, and they came out nice and smooth, a crisp crease, but not overly hot (thanks to separate heat and steam settings.) And, my hubby says it does a great job too. And, it will go into "sleep" mode in just about 2 or 3 minutes, but wakes right back up when you pick it up. And it beeps to tell you when it's changed modes... Pretty cool for an iron!

I'm loving the iron so far! If something goes wrong, I'll update my review. But, if not, know it's working great since late Nov, 2007. :)

I wanted to like this iron caddy because the price is excellent and the plastic feels solid and durable. The problem is that my iron does not fit inside. Many newer irons these days have larger bases and wider plates for convenience and safety, so they will not fit in the Jerdon caddy. If you have a regular, older or "college dorm" size iron this will work perfectly. If you have something that's larger like my T-Fal Ultraglide or any of the irons that have retractable cords, this won't work.

After having enough problems with my overpriced Rowenta iron I bought a Black & Decker D2030 and was very pleased. When the new B&D all-temp irons came out I could not wait. I purchased the D6500 which has a ceramic sole plate and I have been exceptionally pleased, this iron makes the chore of ironing as easy as possible. Being able to use steam on low temps allows me to actually be able to get the wrinkles out of synthetics that can't take high temps, this iron also saved me from purchasing a separate steamer. This is my first iron with a ceramic sole plate and it makes a slightly different sound gliding across the clothes when ironing than a stainless plate, but to me it seems to heat very evenly, and maybe it's just me but my clothes just look better with this iron than my old iron no matter what temp I am on, maybe it's the ceramic. Just a note; the ceramic does glide across fabric as smoothly as anything I have tried. There is also the B&D D6000 all-temp iron which has the Stainless sole plate if you prefer. I totally recommend this iron as it has made the job easer and does a better job. I'll never again have an iron that does not steam on every temperature setting.

I bought this iron cause my old one broke and this one was on sale...it has been the best iron I have ever had...I've never had any problems with it not even dripping...It's inexpensive and it does the job well...I think the best part that I like about it is the plate which I have noticed that it irons smoothly almost gliding as I'm ironing...I have actually had many of my family members and friends get one after using mine!

Wow! This is some kind of iron! You won't believe how I found out about this iron. My relative who is in prison sent me a picture and FYI about this Panasonic Multi Directional Steam Iron and I was intrigued by the style. And I happened to be shopping for a new iron at this time. I am a very fussy ironer and I wanted an iron that would give me what I wanted. I researched on line and read what others stated about the iron. And most of it was very good. And this iron makes your clothes come out looking like new. I couldn't find anything that I did not like about this iron. In fact I liked it so much that I bought two more as gifts for two sisters of mine who are twins. They were just as pleased as I was when they used theirs.
I have had many irons in my lifetime but this one has given me the best results. I highly recommend this iron to anyone who likes a professional looking job for time well spent. The greatest reward this iron gives you is satisfaction. I love mine!

Iron stopped working after two weeks - Linda Skellenger - Folsom, CA United States
I too bought this 'so-called' wonderful iron only to have it stop working after two weeks of use.
I have been unable to get up with customer support, sent several emails, and called with no response.
My husband is an electrical engineer and has tried to repair the iron, only to find out that the part numbers have been 'conveniently' scratched off...no way to get replacement parts and fix it himself. It is probably a 25 cent item that went out but can't find any schematics on this piece of crap. I guess it's time to contact the BBB.

I bought a Rowenta that can iron circles around this hunk of junk.

Smoothest and Smartest Steam Iron Out There - O. Lao -
I love this iron! It's practically got a mind of its own. All I really need to do is touch the iron and it will go down and glide through the fabric. The iron itself is heavy enough to smooth out the wrinkles, but light enough that it won't burn the shirts. The one-touch technology is really amazing. I never need to strain my wrists, trying to lift the iron up because it stays flat the entire time. The steam is great, too. One press of the steam button and the wrinkles are all gone.

I'm the kind of person who sticks to one product once I like it. For the past ten years, I have been using Black & Decker irons. Finally, someone gave me an Oliso Auto-Lift iron and I have officially been converted! Not only is the technology amazing, but it truly makes ironing an easier and faster process.
